Walk in the Woods and Feel Invigorated - Great Pastime

Getting out and about at the shops may seem to be a good thing: getting all that exercise from walking. However, shopping centers are not our natural environment. Man evolved in woodland and on the plains.   ⎳ body x walk x woods x feel x Invigorated x great x pastime | | ⎳ There is something about the natural environment that act as a tonic to the body and improves general wellbeing. It is not known how, but just being there lowers blood sugar level. The need to connect with nature is called biophilia.   ⦿ walk a woods a feel a Invigorated a great a pastime, woodland natural ⦿ The Japanese have rigorously adopted this recreation - experiencing forest bathing where one wanders through woodland scooping up soil in the hands, breathing in the sweet fresh air and touching trees.  You have come home.   ⧗ walk b woods b feel b Invigorated b great b pastime, environment ⧗ It is obvious that it puts the body in a healthy state. Tretris Game Stops Cravings

You would think that playing a computer game and increasing general excitement would increase cravings especially for snacks. Apparently, playing Tetris has the opposite affect. Tetris, even for as little as three minutes calms the brain. The desire for food, coffee, alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, sex and sleep are reduced by 20 per cent. The block-shifting game takes concentrated brain power to play well. Keeping the brain "occupied" keeps distractions at bay. Contrary to the myth, women and men can only do one task at a time.  It is still surprising how sitting down and passively watching television increases appetite. The research was carried out by Queensland's QUT and Plymouth University in England. It was done for a week. Preliminary finding are positive. Work needs to be done on other games such as shoot 'em ups and role playing . Perhaps current beliefs are totally wrong. ◆ Chemistry by Ty Buchanan   ◆ Adventure Australia Funny Animal Pho

Elephants Play Football

Not only humans enjoy a game of soccer. Elephants have a good time playing it too. Despite their size they are very fast and agile. The fifth annual Chitwan festival in Nepal organized a soccer match for elephants in the region. Competition was rough with masters and elephants playing hard. The Wai Wai noodles team won the event. They dominated the final against the Hotel Association winning 3-0. Riders sit on the backs of elephants while the animals really kick the ball around. An international elephant race has been included to bring more people (and elephants) to the festival. http://www.adventure--australia.blogspot.com/ http://www.tysaustralia.blogspot.com/ http://adventure--australia.blogspot.com/atom.xml http://www.technorati.com/blogs/ . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . People Perceive the World Differently

All human beings are the same. This presumption is now challenged by new findings. Some people are good at remembering faces and the names that go with them. Others can recognize only a few. Some very few, indeed, perhaps just one or two friends. This means that we all have a unique perception of life. If remembering others is significant what about other differences in our sensory sensitivities? The Muller-Lyer illusion is illuminating. In this test the length of two lines is the same. One has lines at the two ends pointing inward. The other has lines pointing out. The percentage of people who perceive the second line to be longer differs from society to society. For example, the Kalahari foragers know that the lines are same length - nearly all of the participants tested. On the other hand, most Senegalese believed the second line to be longer. The Dictator Game also highlights the difference. In this "test" a player is allowed to share a pot of money with another player to
